Hailing from Minnetonka, MN, Reuben moved out to New York in the Summer of 2011 to attend New York University, where he received a B.M. in Music Business from the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. While at school, Reuben joined Ani V'Ata, NYU's Premiere Jewish Acapella group, which took up much of his free time. Reuben now works as an Operations Senior Associate at Bonobos and lives in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. His interests include experimenting with food and beverage in the kitchen, the New York Mets and Giants, great sweaters, and traveling.
At Bonobos, I have delivered reporting on all operations activities (inbound freight, distribution center activity output, outbound shipping with all carriers) to the executive team and developed new reporting to help the business operate more efficiently and effectively. I also created and implemented a smart SKU generation process. Additionally, I led the product development team through a system migration and training in support of launch of NetSuite. Lastly, I am the lead singer, keyboard player, and director of the Bonoband.
As a project Manager in Operations, I helped to implement strategic changes and initiatives from the senior management team on both a regional and global scale. This included projects such as implementing operational changes in order to comply with the regulations of MIFID II, pushing the adoption of SalesForce throughout our global regions, and recalibrating our client on-boarding process to better serve our reporting requirements. In addition to strategic initiatives, I helped to trouble-shoot day-to-day roadblocks and inefficiencies by brainstorming potential solutions with the relevant teams and provided the project organization experience necessary to keep everyone focused and moving towards the finish line.
Reporting to the COO of Global Distribution within Investment Management, I assisted in long-term strategy planning, managing the distribution network's relationship with our compliance, legal, risk, and real estate business partners, helping to oversee and drive the success of major projects and initiatives, and reporting of monthly global performance to the Co-Heads of Global Distribution. A few of my major projects included:
Designing the overseeing the creation of a QR code based iPad game at our Investment Management National Sales Meeting. This game helped to foster collaboration and encourage networking among the various departments of our organization.
Providing client-by-client analytical insights to help drive $605 million of gross sales in the fourth quarter of 2015 for our global initiative on one of our investment products.
Comparing budget proposals and 2015 revenues to sales goals across the firm to determine a redistribution of our budget more in line with our strategic priorities.
Overseeing and coordinating the physical move of our office for more than 200 employees.
I worked with the Global Growth Equity team of this $100 billion investment manager to research and report on industries and companies being considered for the portfolio. Specifically, I independently evaluated and presented findings on:
The Changing Spanish Economy
The 3D Printing Industry
The Irish Real Estate Sector
A Mexican Tortilla Company
A Chinese Conglomerate
The Solar Panel Industry
Additionally, I attended investor presentations and worked directly with the Portfolio Managers to evaluate our findings.
I was responsible for creating a full report on an oil and gas exploration firm's outstanding corporate bonds. In order to do so, I taught myself where to find different data within the Bloomberg Terminal, as well as modeling skills in order to facilitate my work.
I was a part time executive assistant to one of four speech pathologists within the company. As an executive assistant, I was responsible for contacting clients, scheduling all meetings, completing and filing paperwork, writing reports summarizing student evaluations, and organizing the office. As a tutor, I worked with elementary school students in reading, writing, and math, in preparation of their middle school entrance exams.
I assisted the president in organizing the start up of this distribution company of portable speaker systems. Some of my responsibilities included researching and identifying potential markets for our products, cold calling prospects, attending trade shows, and demonstrating and selling the products.
As Musical Director of Ani V'Ata, I was responsible for organizing our rehearsals, directing the group, providing constructive feedback, arranging new music, booking gigs, and hosting meetings with the rest of the board to dictate the bigger-picture direction for the group. I organized a seven day tour for our group to California, yielding $6,000 in performance fees, album sales, and donations. We ended the trip with a profit of nearly $3,000. I took the starting balance of our bank account from $2,500 to $6,500 heading into the next year. Throughout the year, I arranged five new songs for the group to perform, including:
As Vice President, I was responsible for organizing our marketing campaigns, handling reimbursements for the group members, and assisting the board in outlining our long-term strategy for the group. I continued to arrange for the group, providing three new arrangements throughout the year.
As Assistant Musical Director, I helped the Musical Director in conducting the group during rehearsals and provided notes to the group on how to improve our performances. Additionally, I provided the group with two new arrangements to sing.
